So yesterday I spent 5 hours at my hairdresser and got extensions.. I have been wanting them FOREVER and figured that now that I was single, it was as good a time as any to get them... I hope I don't look like one of those cougars pushing 40 who is desperately trying to look young?????

Ok! I am not going to be that girl! This is my first Valentine's day as a newly single girl and I refuse to be a Debbie Downer! Yes, the boy I was seeing broke up with me last Saturday (suspicious timing..I sense someone did not want to spring for a gift..but I digress).. so I am officially solo on the big V-day... thank god for amazing friends and cute fur companions!
Valentine's day is too commercial and way over the top.. but I am still choosing to spread some love! All of you in blogland that I have gotten the pleasure of becoming friends with over the last year are sooooo important to me! You are LOVED and ADORED more then you could ever know! Have your best day ever!!

They also include that scrap staple.. a full size choclate bar with every kit.. clever! The add-ons are really adorable as well. They did a fun little interview with me that will post when they put up the creations I made for them.. Here is a little sample to get your mojo going:
If you get a chance to check out their blog or their gallery... you will find tons of inspiration from their VERY talented Designers.. Make sure to check them out! When the rest of my work is posted I will make sure to get it up here.. just in case you want to check it out :) Thanks for looking friends.

Can you believe I am almost 40 and yesterday was my first super bowl party? This is me and my pal Heather before we headed out. The party had like 40 people and 3 T.V.s and 3 food and drink areas! Yikes! I can't even button my jeans this morning because I am still soooo full! It was a good adventure though. Did it turn out the way everyone hoped?
Today I am heading out for my new volunteer position at the Family Justice Center. I am going to be working intake for victims of domestic violence. We do everything from educating about what abuse is, to helping them find shelters for themselves, their children and pets to getting temporary restraning orders. We also work with cases of elder abuse at the center.
I was shocked to learn that most victims try to leave an average of 7 times before they actually get out. Here are some more shocking statistics:
In the U.S. there are 1.4 Million reports of stalking each year.
Current statistics show that Males are victims of domestic violence 30-50% of the time.
It is now considered abuse for a minor to witness an act of domestic violence against one of their parents.
I am nervous that I will do a good job.. there is so much to learn! I am sure the day after Super Bowl Sunday will be a doozy! Have a good week friends :)
